Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) exhibit immunomodulatory potential through their paracrine effect, releasing tissue-specific growth factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines.

Monocyte V-PET has been designed to also concentrate Monocytes, a type of immune cell that, when injected into a chronic injury area, becomes a macrophage or dendritic cell. Macrophages surround and kill microorganisms, ingest foreign material and remove dead cells.
